Guided Surgery for Dental Implants

Advances in dental technology have made treating difficult cases much more predictable and successful.  When placing dental implants, sometimes there is only limited bone available or there is a delicate anatomical structure that is very close to where the implant needs to be placed.  Guided surgery allows Dr. Jenkins to pre-plan the implant surgery on digital imaging software using the CBCT scan to allow for the most accurate and successful surgical outcome as well as minimizing the risk of complications.  Guided surgery is also frequently recommended to place dental implants in esthetic zones such as your front teeth.  This will ensure the most accurate placement of the implant as possible to optimize esthetic outcomes when you smile.

After your CBCT scan, Dr. Jenkins will evaluate the scan and determine if guided surgery would be beneficial.  If so, Dr. Jenkins will meet with the imaging technician to plan your case on the digital software.  You will then return to the imaging center, and a digital impression (also known as an optical scan) will be taken, and the information will be sent electronically to a lab.  The lab will then make your surgical guide to be used during the implant surgery.  During your guided implant surgery, Dr. Jenkins will use specialty surgical kits that allow him to place the implants as directed by the surgical guide.  This will result in the most accurate implant placement and best esthetic outcome.
