There are plenty of reasons to love Thanksgiving. These include spending time with family and friends, talking about all the wonderful things we have to be grateful for, and of course all the delicious food! In fact, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that some of the Thanksgiving dinner favorites are pretty good for the health of your teeth!
Tooth-Friendly Thanksgiving Favorites
Below are the three P’s that your teeth with love:
- Produce – There’s plenty of produce in some of our favorite Thanksgiving side dishes! These can include carrots, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and asparagus. All of these veggies are full of important vitamins and nutrients, which are not only healthy for your body, but for your teeth too!
- Protein – The turkey is the star of the feast for most families, but it’s also full of protein. When protein mixes with calcium and vitamin D in your body, it’s help to create stronger bones and teeth. This is good news for your sparkling smile!
- Pumpkins – Lastly, pumpkins are chock full of vitamin A, which helps to strengthen tooth enamel. Pumpkins also contain potassium and fiber, both of which are known to improve oral health. Because of this, you don’t need to feel too guilty about indulging in a slice of pumpkin pie!
